Girls aloud.

Coralie, me and Tatiana, washing up after a lovely roast on the Saturday evening. I still find it strange that my daughters are twins as they are so different - although Richard didn't think so.

But all three of you are so obviously one. What a lovely photo.

That really is a great photo. You should consider framing it.

With so much beauty, it is a wonder the three of you did not have to defend yourselves from the male population of Crewe with shotguns and pepper spray!

As for the house. . .start consulting DIY books about sealing cracks and providing better insulation. Start looking for some inexpensive, yet energy-efficient, room-sized dehumidifiers. Open a window when you have a nice steamy shower or bath, or when you're cooking pasta or rice. And perservere! If you do, I'm sure you'll have a nicer, chic-er Chez Zoe than the place in Belgium!

Daughters look nice, and who's the hot chick in the middle?

It's a lovely picture of the three of you. I bet the house seemed so empty after they'd gone.

If you are unemployed you can get your house insulated for free- cavity wall & loft insulation. All the power companies pay into some kind of fund, out of which comes the money to pay for your insulation. I had a similar experience to you last year after returning to the UK, and this was the only 'plus' that happened, although I only found out by accident - no-one told me about it (of course)

Such a wonderful photo - you all look so happy and beautiful, so very pleased to be together.

Great suggestion from Julie - I took advantage of subsidised insulation scheme here to get my basement attacked - the difference over winter was amazing.

Sending huggles from me and snores from Zebby Cat, Michelle downunder

Thank you for the lovely comments.

The trouble with the free loft insulation and walls is that the loft is 'insulated enough' - the previous owner had it down a few years ago and we have had it assessed - and I don't have cavity walls. Arse!

Who's the bird in the middle? *wheels off* xx

Aw, it's lovely. You're all lovely. How long has Richard known them? Have the twins always been very different, or have there been periods when they were more similar?

Zoe said...

Squirrel.....I have always found them different - they have different bone structures, looks, temperaments - heights, even.

This was the first time that they had met Richard and they really took to him which was lovely:)

Beautiful, all three of you.

I agree, you should frame this one.

I was going to say, they look like twins...when I remembered, they are twins.

happy holidays, rumor has it that squip is starting to write again but that your comments won't accept her anonymous posts, go bother her for xmas, now to catch up on everything I missed from way back when....

Zoe said...

Notanerd - help - what's Squip's URL? It's been so long.... I'll check my old blog to see if I still have it there, but I'm not sure.....

notanerd said...

no url yet, old ones are defunct, but still in the waybackmachine (archive.org) her email is still good, although I now suspect she's been reading the comments and might be mad, she hasn't responded recently. if you twitter follow @notanerd then DM me and I'll send you more, otherwise not sure how to send the info securely. FYI she has still been following your writings.

Notanerd - thanks for that. I'm no longer on Twitter as doing up my house has taken up most of my time recently, so it's the odd post here and vague mumblings on FB. Hopefully, I'll get my arse into gear in the new year, although there's still decorating to be done....

What a cracking picture! Whatever it is you're doing, keep at it. It's obviously working. Presume Richard is the photographer - well done lad, you've made her look almost normal. :-)))

Hello Zoe, daughters and Richard, and a Very Happy New Year to the lot of you!

[the above to be said in an Alastair Sim-as-the-reformed-Scrooge kind of voice]

Hope 2012 brings you fewer insulation woes and more visits from your daughters.

Ricardipus, commenting once again.

Please wish Tatiana Bonne FĂȘte! Oh and happy New year!

Thank you, Anji - I knew it was 'St. Tatiana' early in the year, but not sure when so I called her and she was ever so happy - and thanks you, too:-) And a happy new year to you and your family - I hope it's a good one:-)

Back again, albeit late, to wish you and yours a wonderful new year. Hope all are keeping warm enough -- but not too warm -- during this odd winter.

(I'm in Chicago, and we've only had snow twice so far -- and it's melted within a few days. The other weekend, I saw someone skateboarding in the clothing commonly called a "wife beater" and "board shorts." I have never, ever in my (mumblety) years seen anyone doing that here in January. Yet, a year ago, we had a blizzard that dumped snow so fast removal equipment couldn't keep up. Hundreds had to abandon their cars on Lake Shore Drive because the snowfall and drifting were so bad!)

Anyway, another suggestion on the insulation problem: Would so-called foam board insulation work in your place? It's a product that comes in sheets, similar to plywood. but that is made of flame-resistant versions of Styrofoam or similar. It's usually applied in one of two ways -- either attached to the inside of the wall studs and covered with drywall OR more often attached to the outside walls and covered with clapboard or siding. The latter is also often the less expensive of the two.
